AGL Residence

New York, New York

The AGL Residence is a single-family residential renovation project located within the historic Printing House in Greenwich Village. The renovation features the structural modification of the historic steel and concrete structure and the introduction of a mezzanine level within the space. The mezzanine level is designed as a sinuous steel and glass sub-structure hung from the original steel girders above. The signature staircase extends this language to the lower floor level through a continuous glass guardrail and steel treads. Each tread in the staircase structure cantilevers out of a reinforced floor-to-ceiling bookcase employed as a structural element within the space.
