The AGL Residence project is a single family residential renovation project located within the historic Printing House building redesigned by workshop/apd architects.  The renovation features the structural modification of the historic steel and concrete structure and the introduction of a Mezzanine Level within the space.  The Mezzanine Level is designed as a sinuous steel and glass structure hung from the existing structure above.  The signature staircase within the space extends this language to the lower floor level through a continuous glass guardrail and steel treads.  Each tread in the staircase structure cantilevers out of a reinforced floor to ceiling bookcase employed as a structural element within the space.
