Pike and Pond Residence

Sag Harbor, NY

The Pike and Pond residence was an exploration of natural materials and forms on a sloping rural site in Sag Harbor, New York. The site sits adjacent to a public street and therefore presents a solid exterior wooden facade that disintegrates to primarily glazing at the rear to draw a strong visual connection to its setting. The structure of the building mixes traditional wood framing with steel interventions to accomplish larger interior volumes and cantilevered building masses in addition to the glazed, rear-exterior facade. The rear facade features an exposed primary steel column set exterior to the building enclosure to highlight a fully-glazed corner condition.
