East Hollow Residence

The design of the East Hollow Residence renovation by Oza Sabbeth Architects intentionally created a castellated exterior expression. This expression was strengthened by a language of vertical ribs to create visual depth. The continuity of the facade is broken by a series of setbacks that create opportunities for visual and physical connection to the interior spaces. Lighting cleverly accentuates both the solidity of the wall and the transparency of the openings.

The offset planes create areas of light and shadow in the rear-facing building facade. The building’s massing and slender structure allows for large, glazed openings and setbacks that connect the interior spaces to the pool deck and patio.

Inside, concealed structural elements create opportunities for seemingly floating masses and double-height spaces.

The stair relies on a series of plate stringers and channel headers to accomplish the elegant geometry that gives the appearance of being supported by the exterior glazing.
